Job summary

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is seeking a dedicated custodial associate to maintain a clean, welcoming environment for staff and members. The role ensures a sanitary and secure facility where health and well-being can be pursued.

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, you will perform cleaning tasks, manage supplies, assist with member service, and support safeguarding requirements including CPR/First Aid within 30 days and background checks as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
• Must pass a criminal background check and be authorized to work with children.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the branch’s cleanliness and safety with urgency and prioritization (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning).
• Communicate maintenance needs to Facilities Manager and Branch Manager and recommend solutions.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance checks.
• Ensure supplies in designated areas (paper towels, soap, sanitizer) are stocked.
• Assist in maintaining a positive experience for members through courteous service.
• Support the Annual Campaign fundraising efforts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for our staff and members. As part of this team, you allow members and program participants to enjoy a sanitary and secure environment to pursue their health and well-being.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain the branch’s cleanliness and safety with a sense of urgency and prioritization (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc.)
• Communicate maintenance needs, issues, and recommend solutions to Facilities Manager and Branch Manager
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks of the facilities as a means of preventative maintenance
• Ensure the fulfillment of goods in designated areas, such as paper towels, soap, sanitizer, etc.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets throughout the branch
• Arrange equipment in the custodial storage areas in a neat and orderly manner
• Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
• Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
• Willingly perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have the ability to operate cleaning equipment.
• Experience in custodial or maintenance work settings preferred.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
