Job summary

Demopolis City Schools in Demopolis, Alabama seeks a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across school facilities. Reports to the Principal(s) and works within a 40-hour week under the board-approved salary schedule.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to read and follow directions, and the applicant must provide a TB skin test and background clearance. This is a full-time, year-round position within the district.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, comprehend and follow directions.
• Applicant must produce a current TB skin test and provide background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Clean finger prints and smudges from entrance glass and all doors.
• Sweep and spot mop all hard surface floors.
• Vacuum all carpeted areas.
• Empty trash receptacles, clean as necessary.
• Disinfect and sanitize door handles, light switches.
• Clean all dispensers, mirrors and fixtures.
• Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets and urinals.
• Spot clean walls and partitions to remove smudges and marks.
• Restock all paper products and soap.
• Sweep and mop floors with disinfectants.
• Must demonstrate a cooperative attitude of friendliness and cheerfulness toward supervisors, co-workers and children.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Terms of employment

Twelve-month employee, in accordance with the Board approved salary schedule or contract. Work schedule includes a 40-hour work week, with scheduled days and times up to the supervisor.
