Position SummaryDaybreak is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. The Custodian is responsible for the routine cleaning and upkeep of Daybreak facilities, including restrooms, offices, common areas, floors, and other assigned spaces.This position requires someone who can work independently, manage assigned responsibilities, follow established safety and cleaning procedures, and work effectively as part of the Daybreak team.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClean and sanitize restrooms using established cleaning practices and procedures.Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout assigned areas.Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, equipment, and other surfaces.Empty trash containers and properly dispose of waste.Refill restroom dispensers and other facility supplies.Strip, clean, buff, seal, and finish hard-surface floors as needed.Vacuum, spot-clean, and shampoo carpets as applicable.Clean offices, common areas, hallways, meeting spaces, and other assigned areas.Safely use and maintain custodial equipment, tools, cleaning products, and supplies.Follow instructions for the proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the appropriate Facilities staff when supplies need to be replenished.Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as needed to complete assigned duties.Identify and report safety hazards, facility damage, maintenance concerns, or equipment issues.Follow Daybreak safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.Maintain professional and respectful interactions with clients, employees, visitors, and vendors.Attend required meetings and training.Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Facilities Director.High school diploma or GED required.One year of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, facilities, or related experience preferred.Knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation, and custodial practices.Ability to safely use cleaning products, chemicals, tools, and custodial equipment.Ability to read and follow safety instructions, product labels, operating instructions, and established procedures.Ability to follow written and verbal directions.Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.Dependable with the ability to complete assigned work with minimal supervision.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good verbal and written communication skills.Basic computer skills.Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with youth and young adults, coworkers, supervisors, visitors, and vendors.Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries when interacting with Daybreak clients.Flexibility to respond to changing facility needs and assignments.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive cleaning movements.Ability to push and pull custodial equipment, carts, and supplies.Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to safely operate custodial tools and equipment.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Additional RequirementsCandidates must successfully complete all applicable Daybreak pre-employment requirements and screenings.If driving is required for the position, the employee must maintain a valid driver's license and meet Daybreak's Motor Vehicle Record requirements.Daybreak employees are expected to support the agency's mission and core values, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, demonstrate teamwork and professionalism, and contribute to a safe and positive environment for the young people we serve.
