Cornerstone Church of West Michigan is seeking a part-time custodian to clean and maintain the facility, ensuring a welcoming environment for worship and learning. The role covers interior and exterior cleaning, managing supplies, and assisting with event setup.

You will work with staff and volunteers to keep spaces ready for classes, meetings, and services, including Sundays. Reliable transportation and a team-oriented approach are essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean the facilities both interior and exterior.
• Gather, bag and transport recycle materials and trash to dumpsters on site.
• Use products to clean carpets, floors, counters, furniture, restrooms, and fixtures.
• Wash and dry microfiber cloths, mop heads and rags as needed.
• Read building schedule and prepare rooms for classes, meetings and events.
• Move tables and chairs and rearrange furniture for functions.
• Transport tables and chairs to and from storage.
• Replace burnt-out lights and assist with maintenance as able.
• Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, soap and sanitizers.
• Keep inventory and notify manager when supplies are low.
• Attend custodial team meetings and coordinate with ministry leaders.
• Float between 84th Street, Heritage Hill, and South Wyoming Campus as needed.
• Manage volunteers for inside areas and grounds cleaning.
• Provide custodial support for large events and post-event cleanup.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to help Cornerstone Church achieve its mission of “helping people know Jesus and make him known,” by cleaning and maintaining the facility. This includes helping to create an atmosphere where learning and worship experiences are pleasant for all but especially for first time guests.

Specific Responsibilities

• Cleaning the facilities both interior and exterior.


• Gather, bag and transport recycle materials and trash to dumpsters provided on site.


• Use a variety of products to clean various surfaces including (but not limited to) carpet, concrete and tile floors, counter tops, furniture, doors, hardware, light fixtures, mirrors, walls, windows, and toilets.


• Regularly using the washer and dryer in the kitchen pantry to clean the micro-fiber cloths, mop heads, cleaning rags, etc.


• Read, understand, and use the building schedule to ensure that rooms are clean, reset, and ready as needed for classes, meetings, and other needs. This includes setting up and taking down tables and chairs and rearranging furniture for various functions.


• Transports tables and chairs from, and back to, storage locations.


• Replace burnt out lights bulbs as needed and assist with maintenance projects as able.


• Replace paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and sanitizers throughout the building.


• Keep inventory and notify manager when products are low.


• Participate in regularly scheduled custodial team and staff meetings/gatherings.


• Communicate directly and often with ministry leaders to ensure their spaces are always ready for use.


• Required to float between 84th Street, Heritage Hill, and South Wyoming Campus as needed.


• Manages volunteers as needed for inside areas and grounds cleaning.


• Be onsite for large events such as weddings, funerals, to provide ongoing custodial support, and to assist with cleaning afterwards.
