Job summary

ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT, INC. in Bridgeport, CT, is seeking a Regular Full-Time Custodian to keep buildings and grounds clean and orderly, performing general repairs as needed.

The role reports to Facilities Maintenance Coordinator; FLSA Non-Exempt, Grade 6 salary range $17-$19 hourly. Two years of maintenance experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required, along with basic cleaning duties and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum classrooms, hallways, and offices.
• Mop classrooms, kitchens, hallways, and offices.
• Empty trash/garbage.
• Clean windows, vents, windowsills, and related fixtures.
• Load and unload deliveries.
• Sanitize areas; clean toilets, sinks, and walls.
• Clear internal and external egresses.
• Shovel snow as needed.
• Mow grass and rake leaves.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Maintain carpet cleanliness.
• Move furniture and secure supplies.
• Notify supervisor about unsafe conditions.
• Keep outdoor play areas clean and safe.
• Provide parking lot security for events as needed.
• Change light bulbs and ceiling tiles; adjust furniture.
• Perform other cleaning/repair duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY: Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition and perform general repairs as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Vacuum classrooms, hallways, and offices.
• Mop classrooms, kitchens, hallways, and offices.
• Empty trash/garbage
• Clean windows, vents, windowsills, and all window accessories.
• Load and unload deliveries.
• Sanitize indicated areas; clean toilets, sinks, and walls.
• Clear internal and external egresses.
• Shovel snow as needed.
• Mow grass and rake leaves.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Maintain and maintain the cleanliness of commercial carpets.
• Move furniture.
• Maintain tools, secure supplies, and equipment.
• Notify the supervisor about any unhealthy or unsafe conditions.
• Keep children's outdoor play area clean and safe.
• Provide parking lot security for special events as needed.
• Change light bulbs, change/cut ceiling tiles, and bolt children's furniture.
• Performs other cleaning\repair duties as assigned.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Two years' experience performing a variety of maintenance activities.
• Must be able to pass online training through Trust University.
