Position Summary & Description

THIS POSITION IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AFSCME COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT

SUMMARY:

This is routine manual work in maintaining thecleanliness and safety of state operated facilities, buildings, andgrounds. Employees perform a variety of standard or asepticcleaning and sanitation tasks and work independently to completethe assigned day-to-day custodial duties. Work is subject toinspection while in progress or upon completion for adherence toestablished standards of cleanliness. Detailed supervisory guidanceand review is provided for new or unusual situations and changes inoperating procedures.

The above duties are normal for this position. The omissionof specific statements of duties does not exclude them from theclassification if the work is similar, related, or a logicalassignment for this classification. Other duties may be requiredand assigned.

Essential Duties:

• Utilize tools and equipment of the custodial trade in theperformance of cleaning tasks.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, and buff floors.
• Clean, dust, and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Wash and clean windows, walls, and doors.
• Clean toilets, sinks, and mirrors in restrooms; replacerestroom supplies.
• Gather and dispose of waste products, recyclable materials, infectious waste, and hazardous materials according to safematerial handling guidelines.
• Move furniture and equipment when necessary to performcustodial tasks.
• Secure and maintain cleaning equipment; request, pick up, andstore related supplies.
• Report needed repairs to crew leader or supervisor.
• Shovel snow, sweep and clean walks; assist in keeping immediateoutside premises and building entrances in an orderlycondition.
• Perform incidental assignments, such as removing ashes, andmaking simple repairs.
• Document work performed.
• Perform related work as required.

Monday through Friday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM

The salary for this position is determined by the AFSCME CollectiveBargaining Agreement.
