Job summary

The State of Oklahoma is seeking a full-time Housekeeping/Custodial Worker for the Sulphur Veterans Home. The role focuses on cleaning and maintaining a state facility with duties including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, inventory, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include supervising housekeeping tasks, assisting in training lower-level staff, and ensuring compliance with cleanliness standards and reporting requirements. The position operates daily from 6:00am to 4:30pm.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in building or institutional custodial work.
• English language proficiency to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, dusts, mops, scrubs, washes, vacuums, waxes, and polishes building floors, walls, woodwork, windows, furniture, equipment, and hardware.
• Cleans and sanitizes laboratories, washrooms, and bedrooms; keeps washrooms supplied with paper, towels, and soap.
• Collects and disposes of trash and garbage; moves equipment and furniture.
• Performs sanitary inspections for infection control.
• Replaces and removes medically contaminated sharps and dressings.
• Orders and distributes custodial supplies; maintains inventory.
• Observes safety violations; participates in emergencies.
• Assists in training and continued education of lower level workers.
• Plans, assigns, and supervises all functions of a housekeeping department.
• Inspects quarters for maintenance of housekeeping standards.
• Maintains records; prepares reports.
