Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is seeking a Custodial Technician to maintain a clean, welcoming environment across offices, public areas, and facilities. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, sanitizing, and waste disposal to support guest experience and staff health.

The role requires 1–2 years in custodial work, strong safety awareness, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with a willingness to work varied hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsabilidades

• Clean and sanitize surfaces; vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, and empty waste daily.
• Disinfect high-use areas and restrooms; clean various Zoo surfaces.
• Handle biohazard waste with proper PPE.
• Pick up litter and maintain cleanliness across the Zoo grounds.
• Assist in snow removal and be flexible about hours, including on-call periods.
• Operate light maintenance equipment as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Stock disposable products and secure area doors.

The Custodial Technician is key in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment throughout the Zoo. Responsibilities include daily tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing floors, and emptying waste bins across offices, public areas, and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily tasks that include cleaning and sanitizing all assigned cleanable surfaces, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing floor surfacing, and emptying waste for offices and facilities daily.
• Properly disinfect and clean high-use areas daily, including but not limited to restrooms and kitchens. And various surface areas throughout the Zoo grounds, including indoor and outdoor areas.
• Clean biohazard waste using the proper PPE.
• Pick up litter and debris throughout the zoo.
• Participate in snow removal operations and are available to work a variable schedule, including early hours, weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays, in an on-call status for snow removal.
• Operate light equipment used for minor and major projects.
• Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment.
• Properly cleans and maintains equipment.
• Follows procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transports it to designated areas.
• Reports maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Properly secure all doors within the assigned area.
• Replenish disposable products such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience as a custodian/ janitor or a similar role is preferred.
• Working knowledge of industry equipment and how to maintain facilities.
• Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written, or demonstrated instructions.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
• Ability to follow all DZCA safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Position Conditions

• Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $19.30 -$20.52 (hourly).
