Job Title: Custodial Supervisor
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE: The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the local Custodial Department including the assignment and direct supervision of all local custodial employees. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for all aspects of training custodial employees in work-related and safety-related themes. The Custodial Supervisor must also play a role in the upkeep and safety of the facilities which the custodial staff is responsible for through inspections and reporting.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and, when absolutely necessary, participate in the work of the custodial staff responsible for the facilities.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing custodial services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly for the purpose of ensuring efficient services
- Monitor the event calendar and assigning appropriate personnel to the event to ensure a clean and attractive facility
- Maintain liaison with state and local agencies for the purpose of complying with rules and regulations regarding hazardous materials including conducting inventories and meeting posting requirements
- Work cooperatively with administration, other staff and custodial staff in evaluating site needs and recommending equipment and supply needs
- Ensure that administrative records and reports regarding custodial personnel are accurate and current by reviewing employee time cards or monthly time sheets and monitoring employee absences
- Monitor custodial supplies and restock as needed;
- Ensure that all equipment is safe and functional and replace as needed;
- Prepare specifications and contracts for contracted services;
- Ensure that janitorial training is received by new employees and that experienced employees receive updated training as necessary or required;
- Ensure that safety training is received by all assigned employees that is current with state and local laws;
- Develop and organize janitorial and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment
- Advise the immediate supervisor on the condition of school buildings and facilities by conducting regular inspections of those areas and reporting the results of the inspections with particular emphasis on needed repairs
- Responsibly manage all funds, property, and equipment assigned to the custodial department
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of personnel and make recommendations for hiring quality staff
- Prepare accident and injury reports as needed for the purpose of following district procedures
- Report safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel for the purpose of ensuring safe facilities
- Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Experience:
- Supervisory experience is preferable
- Possess four years of increasingly responsible custodial leadership experience
- Must possess a working knowledge of janitorial services, building maintenance and repair, and the principals and practices of safety management
- Must have a working knowledge of methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used on the job
- Must have pertinent knowledge of local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules directly related to the job as well as pertinent charter system policy and procedures
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work requires being on your feet for long periods of time
- Lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Possess a current and valid Texas Commercial Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record
- Traveling between campuses
- Possible infrequent travel to outlying campuses throughout the district
