Job summary

Gesher Human Services is seeking a Full Time Janitorial staff member in Detroit, MI to ensure general cleanliness of assigned sites and assist the site manager with day-to-day operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2 years custodial experience, ability to work evenings, pass security clearance, and lift up to 50 pounds. The role reports to the Director, Contracts within the Janitorial Services department.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of custodial experience with documented work history.
• Experience with custodial procedures, inventory control, and quality control.
• Ability to work with handicapped population; experience with multiple crews preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and reporting skills.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Able to work evenings and flexible hours; able to pass government security clearance.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Janitor 1 workers and Day Porter in custodial services.
• Instruct staff in proper custodial procedures by demonstration and modeling.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records (administrative, direct labor, quality control).
• Assign tasks and schedules to direct labor personnel to complete contract work.
• Maintain quality of custodial services performed.
• Oversee set-up of janitorial carts and equipment to facilitate schedule.
• Maintain inventory as required.
• Provide feedback of daily custodial services to Site Manager or designee.
