Job summary

SBM is seeking a Custodian Lead in Newark, Delaware to supervise custodial staff and ensure clean, safe facilities across multiple sites. This role combines hands-on cleaning with scheduling, training, and directing crew activities under the Custodial Supervisor’s guidance.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year custodial experience, CPR/First Aid, and a valid driver's license. You will monitor PPE usage, maintain supplies, and help protect facilities through safety inspections and timely repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of related custodial experience.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
• A valid driver''s license may be required for this position.
• Forklift certification may be required.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties.
• Provide work direction and assistance to custodians as directed by Custodial Supervisor.
• Assist Custodial Supervisor in scheduling and training staff as needed.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Track equipment inventory, maintenance, and repair.
• Schedule clean up and repairs as needed.
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.
• Track and maintain supply inventory.
• Assist Custodial Supervisor in purchasing cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Perform quality, service, and safety inspections.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Report employee personnel and customer issues to supervisor.
• Monitor employees for proper use of personal protective equipment, and supplies.
• Correct at risk behavior and report to the supervisor immediately.
• The ability to drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
• Provide recommendations for corrective action on areas that need improvement
