Primary Purpose
Serve as supervisor of assigned custodial staff and to open and close assigned facility, ensuring building cleanliness, grounds care, trash removal, and safety conditions both interior and exterior.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Custodial experience required.
- Ability to read and speak basic English; read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Effective supervisory skills; ability to work with school administrators, students, staff, contractors, vendors, and community.
- Neat appearance, ability to work on eight‑foot ladder, and ability to operate custodial and related equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Custodial Management and Cleaning
- Dust mop interior hallways multiple times daily, sweep walkways outside, and collect ground litter.
- Check and clean restrooms periodically as needed.
- Maintain cafeteria during lunch periods: mop spills, empty garbage cans, and perform daily wet mopping.
- Submit supply requisitions, maintain inventory, and accurately record received supplies.
- Inspect evening employee work, conduct weekly foreman inspections to ensure duties are completed.
- Assist in training, directing, and evaluating custodial staff.
- Follow district policies, procedures, and rules.
- Make decisions that benefit the facility, students, and staff and reflect positively on the district.
- Ensure proper operation of heating and HVAC equipment, reporting concerns promptly.
Maintenance and Repair
- Report custodial equipment needing repairs to the department.
- Perform minor repairs; report major repairs to maintenance and replace burned‑out lights.
Other Tasks
- Set up and break down furniture for boardrooms, conference rooms, lunches, and meetings as required.
- Unlock doors as instructed by building principal.
- Supervise summer cleaning activities as part of a crew.
- Inspect machines and equipment for maintenance, safety, and efficiency.
- Alternate and adjust work hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used
- Ladder, custodial equipment, buffer, auto scrubber, pressure washer, leaf blower, small hand tools (screwdriver, wrench, hammer, socket, pliers), stripper, wet and dry vacuum, electric drill, shampooer.

- Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.

- Work inside and outside on slippery or uneven surfaces, and on ladders.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, and potentially toxic chemicals and materials.
