Position Purpose: The Custodial Day Shift Manager oversees the daily custodial operations of the custodial team during their assigned shift(s). This role ensures a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, and staff. The Shift Manager coordinates and supervises a team of supervisors to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols and maintains high standards of cleanliness across all assigned areas. They act as a critical point of contact between custodial staff, squad leaders, and building occupants, fostering a positive work environment and delivering excellent service.
The incumbent provides leadership in managing the day-to-day management of custodial services across designated shift(s), including hiring, onboarding, and special projects. Also manages aspects of personnel, staffing, equipment, consumable supply requirements for their shift(s), and vendor relations necessary to provide efficient delivery of Custodial Services to the campus. Collaborates with College stakeholders and groups to coordinate and support academic and research activity, athletics, and real estate. Manages special events, Commencement, and Reunions, annual dorm turnover, and directs the custodial response for campus emergencies, including snow removal, floods, fires, and building access and scheduling.
