Job Description Summary:
Amplify is seeking experienced content writers to create embedded ELA lesson supports for multilingual learners and students with special needs, and to develop ELD lessons aligned to the ELA program. Ideal candidates have a track record in differentiating content, deep knowledge of multilingual and SPED learner needs, and/or ELD curricula expertise.
Writers receive ongoing training in program pedagogy, content architecture, and the instructional framework, and will craft high-impact differentiated supports and guidance and/or ELD lessons for three levels of language development. Depending on skills, a writer may focus on integrated supports, ELD content, or both, collaborating in a fast-paced, iterative environment to deliver consistent, high-quality drafts.
This is a contract role.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Craft highly effective integrated instructional supports, including:
- Collaborating with MLL/SPED leadership to understand Amplify’s approach to differentiating content for SPED and ELL students.
- Crafting differentiated supports within lessons to ensure students with diverse learning and language needs can engage with the lesson text.
- Developing teacher guidance to support teachers in implementing and facilitating differentiation effectively.
- Working productively and collaboratively with content leads, writers, editors, designers, and producers.
- Learning and working within new instructional platforms and work systems.
- Ensuring all content meets Amplify’s rigorous standards for quality and accuracy.
- Craft highly effective ELD lesson content aligned to Amplify’s ELA Program, including:
- Collaborating with ELD leadership to understand Amplify’s approach to creating ELD lesson content.
- Writing, reviewing, and revising ELD lesson content to provide support and differentiation for English language learners.
- Ensuring all materials are aligned to California’s ELD standards and criteria.
- Developing teacher guidance to support teachers in implementing and facilitating lessons effectively.
- Working productively and collaboratively with content leads, writers, editors, designers, and producers.
- Learning and working within new instructional platforms and work systems.
- Ensuring all content meets Amplify’s rigorous standards for quality and accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years secondary education experience working with students with diverse language and/or learning needs.
- Solid knowledge of best practices for supporting students with diverse language and/or learning needs.
- Experience creating differentiated supports or curriculum for students with diverse language and learning needs.
- Experience creating ELD content.
- Demonstrated writing skills.
- Demonstrated strengths as a collaborator.
- Strong analytic reading and thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and balance work on multiple projects.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Comfort with a range of technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in a field relevant to supporting the needs of students with diverse language or learning needs.
- Experience crafting differentiated curricula that integrates different genres, technologies, and media.
- Experience developing content for an ELD classroom or curriculum.
- Experience coaching or training teachers to differentiate and support students with diverse language or learning needs.
- Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish.
- Experience creating content for a digital platform.
Compensation: The hourly rate range for this role is $40 - $45.
