Job summary

The Stephen Longfellow Academy invites applications for a Curriculum Leader of Food Technology. You will lead the department, shape the curriculum for KS3 and KS4, and drive teaching excellence to secure exceptional student outcomes.

You will build a culture of high aspiration, innovation and continuous improvement, while leading enrichment and community partnerships to broaden opportunities for all students.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Food Technology teaching with strong KS3/KS4 outcomes.

The Stephen Longfellow Academy is seeking to appoint an inspirational and ambitious Curriculum Leader of Food Technology to lead and develop this key curriculum area. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner with a passion for Food Technology and a commitment to securing exceptional outcomes for all students.

As Curriculum Leader, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, driving excellence in teaching and learning, curriculum development and student achievement across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be responsible for creating a culture of high aspirations, innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring all students are inspired to develop their knowledge, skills and creativity whilst achieving their full potential. This role also presents an opportunity to lead a broad programme of enrichment activities, strengthen community partnerships and contribute significantly to the wider success of the academy.

We Are Looking For a Colleague Who

• Has a proven track record of successful Food Technology teaching and securing strong outcomes at KS3 and KS4.
• Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students of all abilities.
• Has the vision, ambition and leadership skills to drive strategic development within the department.
• Possesses a strong understanding of current curriculum developments and educational practice and can translate this into exceptional learning experiences.
• Can effectively use assessment and performance data to monitor progress and raise student achievement.
• Is committed to developing colleagues and fostering a collaborative culture of professional excellence.
• Has a passion for education and a determination to ensure every student succeeds, regardless of their starting point.

About Us

The Stephen Longfellow Academy is an Alternative Provision setting based in the South of Leeds that has changed the face of Alternative Provision, both locally and nationally. Opened in September 2017, The Stephen Longfellow Academy serves schools across Leeds to support some of the most vulnerable young people in the city to re-engage with education by following a bespoke curriculum offer that reopens the doors of opportunity that were, at one point, firmly closed. This is because our exceptional team of staff create personalised pathways that combine an academically rich curriculum with personalised therapeutic support. This allows significant numbers of students to re-engage in mainstream education or successfully enter further education, employment or training.
