The role involves creating differentiated materials, collaborating in professional learning communities, and continuously improving curriculum based on student data and teacher feedback.

Formación

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• At least 3 years teaching or curriculum experience in elementary literacy.
• Experience designing K-5 literacy curriculum aligned to TEKS.
• Familiarity with Science of Reading, structured literacy, and curriculum design.

Job Description

Designs and develops Houston ISD curriculum for Kindergarten through 5th grade Reading Language Arts, including Science of Reading-aligned instruction. Emphasizes creation of high-quality, teacher-facing instructional materials, including slide decks, Demonstrations of Learning (DOLs), literacy activities, and differentiated assignments aligned to daily learning objectives to support effective classroom implementation.

Responsibilities

Designs and develops high-quality, TEKS-aligned K-5 RLA curriculum within the district's instructional framework, including daily lesson materials, assessments (e.g., daily, formative, and summative), and scaffolded supports.Creates differentiated literacy materials to support diverse learners, including scaffolds for reading comprehension and written expressionEnsures alignment to TEKS and best practices in secondary literacy instructionCollaborates in PLCs/brain trust sessions and iterates deliverables to refine curriculum, ensure clarity, and improve instructional effectivenessEnsures curriculum is rigorous, coherent, and actionable for teachers, and continuously improves materials based on student data, teacher feedback, and implementation outcomes.Participate in professional learning to internalize standards and strengthen literacy curriculum design practices materials based on student data, teacher feedback, and implementation outcomes.

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years teaching or curriculum experience in elementary literacy

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Level 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.
