Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a Curriculum and Instruction Manager to drive equitable, linguistically responsive instruction district-wide. You will develop systems for high-quality curriculum, professional learning, coaching and assessments, and build capacity among district specialists to support schools.

The role requires leadership in data-informed decision making, collaboration with multiple teams, and a commitment to serving multilingual learners in an urban environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• At least four years of teaching experience in curriculum focus.
• Two+ years of management responsibility.
• Experience with urban districts and multilingual learners.

• Collaboratively creates and implements the vision and strategic plan for the Humanities team with Schools Team and other departments.
• Develops capacity of district specialists to provide exemplary customer service and targeted professional learning.
• Analyzes student achievement data to improve materials and school supports.
• Implements the district assessment strategy and provides professional learning on assessments.
• Builds a strong team culture aligned with district values and service to schools.
• Partners with Schools Team to deploy Humanities instructional specialists effectively.
• Keeps Humanities Director informed about progress and issues.

About this job:

The Curriculum and Instruction Manager carries out district vision for equitable and linguistically responsive instruction in designated subject area, working collaboratively with stakeholders. Develops and implements district-wide instructional systems for high quality curriculum, professional learning, coaching and assessments, building the capacity of district specialists to provide individualized school support and to lead district professional learning.

What You'll Do:

• Collaboratively creates and implements the comprehensive vision and strategic plan for the Humanities team in partnership with the Schools Team, schools, and other academic departments.
• Develops the capacity of district specialists to provide exemplary customer service, school support, and professional learning opportunities to schools on equitable and linguistically responsive instruction, curriculum and assessment.
• Analyze student achievement data to determine how to better develop materials and provide targeted, high quality teacher and school supports.
• Collaboratively implements the district assessment strategy; provides professional learning to district specialists and directors of schools on assessments.
• Builds a strong team culture grounded in district values and a commitment to excellence and service to schools.
• Develops partnerships with the Schools Team to ensure impactful deployment of the district Humanities instructional specialists.
• Informs the Humanities Director of progress on work streams, projects and issues as they arise.
• Assists in the preparation and review of presentations, summaries, required reports, data and other documents needed for distribution to Teaching and Learning, district senior leadership, other departments, and community.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Master's Degree preferred
• Four years of teaching experience in area of curriculum focus, including three years experience coaching teachers
• Previous experience working in an urban district with Multilingual Learners and leading for Spanish Literacy
• 2+ years of management responsibility
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices aligned to the science of reading research
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us
• Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position
