Job description

Current Department Employees Only: Dietary Clerk - Part Time

Liaison between patient care areas and food service department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visits patients to collect patient menu preferences, food intolerances, and allergies.
  • Basic understanding of therapeutic diets. Able to create a non-select menu (1-2 meals) for patients ordered a therapeutic diet with minimal assistance from Registered Dietitian.
  • Assists in the nutritional care of patients by communicating and collaborating with the Registered Dietitians.
  • Takes inventory, rotates, and orders enteral products and nutrition supplements.
  • Inspects patient trays on one tray line and loads trays on carts.
  • Inputs patient data on spreadsheets, production tally, and tray tickets.
  • Retrieves information from the electronic medical record.
  • Copies and files menus.
  • Works independently with little or no daily supervision.
  • Collects and tabulates Quality Assurance activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Serve Safe Food Handlers Certificate within 3 months of hire into job.

Other Experience/Qualifications

One year of experience in food service preferred. Experience in a hospital or knowledge regarding patient dietary requirements and food restrictions preferred.
