Job summary

The City of Delaware is seeking a Technician I–III to support the Solid Waste Collection Division, performing curbside collection, transport, and disposal tasks while ensuring safety and accuracy in records. The role may shift between Technician I, II or III based on qualifications and department needs.

Candidates should be prepared for varying shifts, including potential extended hours or weekend work, and will receive training for equipment operation and safety protocols within the Public

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of solid waste and recycling collection and disposal operations.
• Safe driving techniques and procedures.
• Ability to perform relatively heavy lifting and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Basic math skills for calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with curbside collection of refuse, recyclables and yard waste and transporting materials to designated facilities.
• Maintain accurate records relative to collections, hauling and disposal.
• Assemble and deliver trash and recycling containers and informational packets to residents.
• Inspect vehicles pre/post trip to ensure safety and compliance.
