Job summary

BKF is seeking a Cultural Resources Discipline Lead to oversee archaeologists, paleontologists, and tribal resources specialists across California. You will drive technical compliance work and lead business development with strong internal support to expand BKF’s cultural resources portfolio.

The role offers remote or hybrid work options, while requiring leadership experience and a solid understanding of federal and state historic preservation laws. Travel to client sites may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geospatial sciences, geography, biology, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualification Standards for archaeology/anthropology preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in progressive leadership roles in cultural resources.
• Strong understanding of federal/state historic preservation laws.
• High energy, results-oriented team leader.
• Ability to manage teams and communicate with clients.
• Valid California driver's license and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build out the cultural resources team across archaeology, paleontology, and tribal resources.
• Develop business by cross-selling services and cultivating new clients for cultural resource monitoring and CEQA/NEPA compliance.
• Provide field assessments and prepare Phase I/II surveys and technical reports.
• Coordinate tribal partnerships and monitor construction projects.
• Develop PRIMP program for complex projects.
• Oversee compliance with NHPA, NEPA, and CEQA for assessments and surveys.
• Draft internal cultural resources protocols and processes.
• Collaborate with permitting, biology, CEQA/NEPA, and planning staff to advance projects.
• Generate new client base through professional networks.
