Job summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Manhattan Sites Headquarters in New York, NY, seeks a Museum Curator GS-1015 to lead complex cultural resources programs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Responsibilities include directing inventories, planning preservation projects, budgeting, and coordinating with stakeholders to develop long-range plans for inventory, evaluation, documentation, and interpretation of cultural resources.

Qualifications

  • Experience planning and conducting inventories of cultural resources.
  • Ability to preserve, restore, or mitigate impacts on resources.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g. NHPA).
  • Capability to draft technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Directs an intracates program of cultural resources management activities.
  • Develops guidelines for complex issues or unusual problems.
  • Coordinates review of park plans and projects.
  • Develops and conducts preservation, mitigation, stabilization, and restoration projects.
  • Assists in preparing the cultural resource program budget.
  • Develops work plans, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
