Job summary

The Pauma Band of Mission Indians is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Cultural Resource Manager (CRM) Assistant to support the protection, preservation, and management of the Tribe's cultural, historical, and archaeological resources.

This position assists with field surveys, documentation, research, project reviews, cultural resource monitoring, and Tribal historic preservation activities, working closely with the CRM and THPO to support TIPA, consultation, and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in cultural resources, environmental work, heritage preservation, or work with Tribal communities.
• Valid California driver's license and ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements.
• Ability to complete required background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cultural resource field surveys, archaeological assessments, and site monitoring.
• Document archaeological sites, artifacts, sacred areas, and culturally significant locations.
• Conduct research using historical maps, archives, GIS data, and oral histories.
• Assist with documenting Tribal cultural resource concerns and recommended protection measures.
• Maintain confidentiality of culturally sensitive information, locations, and Tribal knowledge.
• Support Tribal historic preservation and cultural protection responsibilities and NHPA/NAGPRA/NEPA efforts.
