Job summary

Northeast Alternatives is seeking a Cultivation Technician to support a full-cycle indoor cannabis production facility in Lakeville, MA. You will assist with day-to-day cultivation operations, caring for plants through the growth cycle, reporting to supervisors, and helping implement SOPs.

Ideal candidates have cannabis cultivation experience, strong teamwork, and the ability to learn quickly. Schedule is Monday-Thursday, 6:30am-5:30pm, with full-time, non-exempt status and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ and eligible to obtain required state cannabis agent registration.
• Learn and execute robust cultivation SOPs including cloning, transplanting, feeding, defoliating, topping and waste disposal.
• Able to follow directions and adapt to new processes and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Implement cultivation SOPs including cloning, transplanting, feeding, defoliating, topping, applying preventative sprays, disposing green waste, and scouting the crop/plants.
• Learn and execute a successful Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy.
• Track environmental factors and record data to provide to management.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform water, media, and solution sampling and testing procedures.
• Adhere to industry standards and waste disposal procedures set forth by regulatory agencies.
• Maintain accurate daily activity records and operation logs using designated software.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
• Contribute to a team-oriented and innovative work environment.

Job Description:

The Cultivation Technician works as part of a 30–50 person team supporting the operations of a full-cycle, indoor cannabis production facility in Lakeville, MA. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the cultivation process, supporting the care and maintenance of cannabis plants throughout the growing cycle. The Cultivation Technician reports to the Lead Cultivation Technician and Cultivation Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Implement our existing, robust cultivation SOPs, including cloning, transplanting, feeding, defoliating, topping, applying preventative sprays, disposing green waste, and scouting the crop/plants
• Learn and execute a successful Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy
• Track environmental factors and record data to provide to management
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Perform water, media, and solution sampling and testing procedures
• Adhere to industry standards and waste disposal procedures set forth by regulatory agencies
• Maintain accurate daily activity records and operation logs as directed using designated software
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management

• Contribute to already-existing operations and processes to improve work-flow, efficiency, and provide constructive feedback and recommendations

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be 21+ and eligible to obtain required state cannabis agent registration
• Ability to make it to work on time
• Ability to learn new processes and technologies quickly
• Ability to plan ahead, trouble-shoot, anticipate problems, and problem solve
• Able to follow directions and ask questions as needed
• Knowledge of large-scale commercial plant cultivation, including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc. is preferred
• Prior knowledge of soil and hydroponic growing methods including micronutrients, beneficial bacteria, and nutrient implementation, as well as pH, PPM, and EC counts is preferred
• Knowledge of container systems with soil and hydro, as well as understanding temperature and humidity manipulation is preferred
• Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options is preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods, including shifts up to 10 hours
• Work is performed in an indoor, temperature-controlled cultivation facility where temperatures and humidity levels may be elevated depending on the cultivation environment and stage of production
• Ability to work comfortably in warm and humid conditions for extended periods
• Work may involve exposure to water, soil, plant material, cultivation inputs, and cleaning agents while following applicable safety procedures
