Job summary

Ascend Wellness Holdings is seeking a Cultivation Manager in New Jersey to oversee cannabis cultivation from seed to harvest, ensuring compliance with state regulations and company policies. You will lead planning, harvest scheduling, staffing, and quality assessments to deliver consistent yields and compliant products.

With 5+ years in large-scale greenhouse growing and at least 2 years in management, you will guide the cultivation team, manage inventory, and maintain rigorous SOP adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in a large-scale commercial growing operation in a greenhouse environment, with 2+ years at the management level.

Responsibilities

• Develop a detailed plan and timeline for plant production from seed/clone to harvest.
• Initiate and manage a harvest schedule to meet business demands.
• Assist in cultivation staffing schedules based on projected labor demand.
• Support the employee review process for cultivation personnel.
• Track inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies.
• Ensure growing environment is clean, stocked, and functioning properly.
• Produce products meeting lab tests with targeted yield and potency.
• Set and educate others on standards of accountability for cultivation staff.
• Complete regular quality assessments for pests and disease.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cultivation Manager is responsible for successful cultivation activities from seed/clone through harvest, following company policies and procedures and in compliance with state regulations

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

• Responsible for the grow operations, including developing a detailed plan and timeline for plant production from seed/clone to harvest
• Initiates and manages a harvest schedule to consistently meet the demands of the business
• Assist in creating cultivation staffing schedules based on projected labor demand
• Support the employee review process for cultivation personnel
• Tracks consumable inventory levels and ensures that adequate supplies are available in reasonable quantities
• Ensures that the growing environment is clean, properly always equipped and in good working order
• Produces a product that meets all lab testing requirements at targeted yield levels with the expected amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredients
• Clearly sets out a vision for success and educates cultivation members on how their actions and accomplishments contribute to the overall success of the company
• Establishes and enforces standards of accountability for cultivation staff
• Completes regularly scheduled quality assessment of plants for signs of pests/disease

Compensation:

$80,000 - $90,000

Other Responsibilities

• Ensure staff is trained and follows appropriate SOP's
• Ensure that all requisite information is maintained in the state required system and site records are up to date
• Coach and develop the Cultivation Technicians, provide constant developmental feedback
• Bachelor's Degree in Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years' experience in a large-scale commercial growing operation in a greenhouse environment, with 2+ years at the management level operations
• Experience in multi-tiered growing environments.
• Experience with growing data acquisition
• Knows automated environmental control systems
• Advanced understanding of horticulture practices including cloning plants
• Ability to identify and remedy plant disease states
• Can identify and remedy suboptimal nutrient states
• Detailed knowledge of indoor hydroponic cultivation practices, life cycle of cannabis, common pests of cannabis and compliance
• Must be 21 years or older and pass all required pre-employment screenings
• Full knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, and requirements to always keep the facility at 100% compliance, this includes being up to date on any changes to current applicable laws/regulations
• Must pass all required background checks
• Must be and remain compliant with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry
• Must be able to obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by the state of operation
• Must have excellent organization and time management skills
• Must be focused, pay close attention to detail
• Must be able to internalize training and follow instructions
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
