Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example while actively participating in daily prep, production, and kitchen operations.
- Help organize and prioritize the team's workload according to the daily prep list and production needs.
- Assign and communicate tasks as directed by the Lead Culinary Manager.
- Monitor progress throughout the shift and adjust workflow as necessary to complete production on time.
- Anticipate immediate production needs based on pars, demand, and available inventory.
- Communicate incomplete production, shortages, quality concerns, or other operational issues to kitchen leadership.
- Ensure food is prepared according to established recipes, procedures, portioning, and quality standards.
- Verify proper recipe scaling and production methods.
- Perform routine quality checks.
- Help ensure finished products meet Verve standards before being distributed or served.
- Ensure food is properly labeled, dated, stored, and rotated according to FIFO standards.
- Reinforce food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and safe equipment-use standards throughout the shift.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environment during production.
- Conduct end-of-shift walkthroughs and ensure stations, equipment, storage areas, and workspaces are properly cleaned and organized.
- Communicate food-safety, equipment, or facility concerns to management.
- Assists Executive Chef and Sous Chef in daily organization and production of menu items
- Ensures inventory management, facility cleanliness, and food safety standards are upheld during and after production of all menu items.
- Assist with receiving, organization, and inventory activities as assigned.
- Minimize food waste through proper production, portioning, storage, rotation, and handling.
- Partners with the Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth operations in the kitchen
- Helps with daily service as necessary
- Ensures that a quality product is being served to customers
- Coach and motivate staff
- Provide guidance and support to cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers.
- Assist with training employees on recipes, procedures, equipment, food safety, and kitchen standards.
- Provide constructive, respectful coaching when standards are not being met.
- Help create a positive, productive, and collaborative working environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism, urgency, organization, and attention to detail.
- Follow all Verve policies, procedures, and processes
Qualifications and Requirements
- Two years of experience in commercial kitchens with a background in hospitality a plus
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support coworkers in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, food safety, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to follow and reinforce standardized recipes and procedures.
- Desire to exceed guest expectations
- Must be positive, enthusiastic, and approachable
- Ability to communicate in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with a team
- Display critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Clean, organized, and with an eye for detail

- Obtain CA Food Handlers certification upon hire
- Must be 18 years or older
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- The hours are based on availability, available weekends and Holidays, hours can fluctuate due to the needs of the business.

The following physical demands outline the requirements necessary for employees to effectively carry out the essential functions of this position. This role is dynamic and involves prolonged periods of standing (or being on one's feet for up to 8 hours), walking, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. Additionally, employees will be required to lift products and packaging overhead and may frequently handle items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds. Essential vision capabilities for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Furthermore, adept finger and wrist dexterity are essential for successful performance in this position.
