Job summary

Vintage Gardens, a Sonida Senior Living community in St. Joseph, MO, seeks a Culinary Services Cook to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.

You’ll support the Culinary Services Director, maintain dining standards, and ensure sanitary, efficient operations. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Food Service Sanitation Certificate, with experience in volume meal prep and some supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Food Service Sanitation Certificate per state/local requirements.
• Experience with high-volume meal preparation for large groups preferred.
• Some supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team, flexible shifts, multi-task, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services, ensuring efficient meal service, customer service, and cleanliness of dining room and kitchen.
• Cleans after preparation and service; maintains work area, pots, and equipment.
• Ensures leftovers are labeled, dated, and stored properly.

Culinary Services Cook Responsibilities Include

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.

• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
