Job summary

Sonida Senior Living in Saint Augustine, FL is hiring a Cook to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for residents. You will assist the Culinary Services Director and maintain sanitation standards in a busy dining room and kitchen.

The ideal candidate has high school diploma or GED and a Food Service Sanitation Certificate as required by state/local rules; experience in senior living is preferred but not essential. Reliable attendance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred, but not required.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• Knowledge of volume meal preparation for large groups is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand recipes and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining an organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to Residents including service delivery and cleanliness.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures leftovers are properly labeled, dated and stored.

The Day-to-day

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

The Ideal Candidate

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred, but not required
• Required license/certification, if applicable
• A caring attitude and reliable attendance
• High school graduate or GED preferred
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
• Must be 18 years of age or older
