PureHealth is seeking a skilled kitchen teammate to manage food production and quality control in a post-acute setting. The role supports culinary staff, follows recipes, and ensures safety and sanitation standards across patient meals.

Responsibilities include knife skills, equipment handling, inventory awareness, and accurate temperature logging. This PRN position requires teamwork, reliability, and strong communication within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Certifications or degree from a Culinary Institution preferred.
  • Experience in a culinary role or cook/chef role required.

  • Refer to menu for daily prep and dietary needs.
  • Record temperatures three times daily and maintain logs.
  • Complete the daily cleaning checklist.

Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining and setting up food production and quality control of all food items prepared.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Produce consistent food projects while following recipes with reduced supervision and direction from the Culinary Manager, while maintaining quality presentation standards
  2. Exhibits an advanced knowledge, understanding and application of knife skills and cooking techniques
  3. Identify and safely use all kitchen equipment
  4. Properly label, date and rotate all products to ensure safe keeping and sanitation
  5. Maintain an organized, clean and sanitary work area in accordance with Health Department/ ServSafe standards
  6. Assist, train and guide prep cooks and other culinary staff members in daily tasks
  7. Basic understanding and knowledge of inventory control, requisitions and par levels
  8. Refer to menu for the following days prep and specific diet needs of customer(s)
  9. Record food temperatures three (3) times daily, according to temp. log
  10. Complete daily cleaning list

Work Environment

This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required

HIPAA

Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization
  2. Basic computer and Microsoft Application skills. Must have an ability to learn new systems
  3. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
  4. Must have positive communication skills and demonstrated adequate maturity and patience
  5. Proficient in the English language. Good communication (verbal and written), customer service and interpersonal skills
  6. Must have good organization skills with attention to detail
  7. Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions
  8. Must show initiative and take action on observed needs
  9. Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  10. Knowledgeable of kitchen equipment, good knife skills, and possess a full tool kit
  11. Knowledgeable of weights and measures, as well as basic math applications
  12. Must be able to assist, train and direct culinary interns and prep cooks in daily tasks
Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a culinary role or a certificate/degree from a Culinary Institution
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a cook/chef role
  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate
Preferred Education/Experience
  • College/University Degree in a related field or a certificate/degree from a Culinary Institution
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a culinary cook/chef role
