Job summary

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to prepare and serve meals for patients, staff and visitors in a clinical kitchen. You will follow menu guidelines, maintain cleanliness, and support inventory and stocking.

Under supervision, you will handle meal trays, ensure dietary requirements are met, operate dishwashing equipment, and uphold infection control and PPE protocols in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent to perform essential duties (preferred).
• Food Handler's Card if required by state/local Upon Hire.
• 1+ years experience in quality food preparation setting (required).
• Prior experience with therapeutic diets preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves hot and cold meals for patients, staff, and visitors per menu guidelines.

• Stocks supplies and rotates inventory to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Food Services, the Food Service Worker performs a variety of food service tasks, including preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and assisting with inventory and stocking. The role ensures adherence to safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines in a healthcare setting.

Essential Functions

• Prepares and serves hot and cold meals for patients, staff, and visitors according to menu guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, dining areas, and storage rooms.
• Stocks supplies and rotates inventory to ensure freshness and prevent waste.
• Delivers food carts to patient care units and retrieves them after meals.
• Washes dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using dishwashing machines.
• Assists in the preparation of meal trays and ensures accuracy of meal delivery based on dietary restrictions.
• Disposes of trash and waste materials according to established guidelines.
• Follows infection control and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assists in special cleaning projects as directed by the Food Services Director or Supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• Food Handlers Card or permit if required by the state or local jurisdiction Upon Hire

Experience

• 1+ years experience in quality food preparation setting (i.e.: restaurant, nursing center, hotel, etc.) (Required) And
• Prior Experience that demonstrates full understanding of therapeutic diets (Preferred).
