Windham School District Austin - Travis Unit seeks a Culinary Arts Instructor to teach adult incarcerated students the culinary arts and soft skills needed for entry‑level employment. Instructors will demonstrate techniques and ensure safe food and beverage preparation, following district curriculum and TEA requirements.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and record-keeping abilities, plus compliance with TRS retirement policies and school district procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of full-time experience in culinary arts or related fields.
• ServSafe Instructor/Proctor certification preferred.
• Up to four years substitution with 30 semester hours.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct learning activities for adult incarcerated students.
• Follow Windham School District curriculum guides for the assignment area.
• Maintain lesson plans and attendance records as prescribed.
• Give clear oral and written instructions to students.
• Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.
• Administer diagnostic and achievement tests as required.
