Job summary

Warren General Hospital is seeking a hospital kitchen assistant to support routines in food storage, preparation, service and sanitation for patient meals and public cafeteria service.

You will assist cooks, check tray temperatures, deliver carts, heat and assemble trays for patients, stock kitchen on nursing units and manage stock in stockrooms, coolers and freezers. Flexible schedule from 6am to 7:30pm is required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules (kitchen hours are 6am to 7:30pm).
• Experience with food storage, preparation, service and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Check trays for proper food temperatures; assist cooks as needed.
• Deliver food carts to floors; heat and assemble trays for patients.
• Stock kitchen on nursing units; stock food items in stockroom, coolers and freezer.
• Performs cashiering duties including cashing out and depositing monies in the designated area for lock-up.
• Perform cleaning functions and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
• Pre-washing and washing duties for reusable china, pots, utensils, etc.
• Transports and disposes of garbage and rubbish.
