Job summary

Carol Woods Retirement Community is expanding its kitchen team in Chapel Hill, NC. This part-time opportunity offers flexible hours with no late closings and opportunities for relief shifts.

You’ll work under the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to prepare high-quality meals and support plating for service, in a collaborative, growth-oriented kitchen environment. Ideal candidates have a passion for food, strong teamwork, and a desire for better hours and benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma.
• 5 years direct involvement with production in food service.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
• Competencies include adaptability, organization, technical/expertise, and communication/literacy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all menu/food items using standardized recipes and HACCP standards.
• Complete production within scheduled times for proper service.
• Proficient in basic cooking techniques (bouillon, sauté, braise, roast, poach, grill, fry, bake).
• Taste foods to determine quality and palatability during production.
• Follow FIFO procedures for stock handling.
• Keep kitchen areas clean and organized.
• Monitor food temperatures during prep and service.
• Assist in refining menu items and kitchen procedures.
• Assist in serving meals in Main and Satellite kitchens.
