Job summary

Syngenta Group in Woodland, CA seeks a Breeding Intern for Cucurbits Germplasm Development to gain hands-on experience in vegetable seed development.

You will assist the breeding team with field evaluations, implement high-throughput phenotyping, and help collect and curate data while learning from experienced scientists.

Duration: Mid-June 2027 to Mid-September 2027, with exposure to day-to-day operations and cross-team collaboration to help shape resilient, high-performing varieties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing Bachelor's or advanced degree in Plant Biology/Plant Breeding/Horticulture/Genetics/Or related field.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Excellent communication and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Support Breeding Team in field activities evaluating new hybrids and lines.
• Implement High-Throughput Phenotyping protocols in Cucurbits.
• Collect, document, and curate data for accuracy and integrity.
• Lead field crew during the field evaluation season.
• Assist data collection for trait discovery and validation.
• Adhere to HSE policies and other duties as required.
