Job summary

The Cedar Ridge Behavioral Hospital seeks a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to oversee recreation therapy programs and lead expressive therapy staff development. You will assess patients’ leisure activities and run age-appropriate therapy groups to support behavioral goals aligned with Cedar Ridge’s philosophy.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy and CTRS certification, with 1–3 years of mental health experience, strong leadership, crisis-management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy field required.
• CTRS certification required.
• 1–3 years of experience in recreation therapy with mental health population preferred; group leadership, age-appropriate development, crisis and behavior management.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Drug test required.
• National background check required.
• Physical agility to manage patients.
• Ability to push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Strong Computer skills.
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Strong Leadership skills.
• Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste.

Responsibilities

• Provide recreation therapy program oversight and staff development for expressive therapy services.
• Assess patients' leisure and recreational activities and establish therapy groups.
• Develop behavioral treatment goals aligned with Cedar Ridge's philosophy and objectives.
