Role:

Senior Network Security Engineer

Location:

Remote, with requirement to come on-site once a month in Reston, VA, and as needed to resolve issues. Must reside in the DC, MD, VA Region.

Summary:

The client is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer responsible for administering security technology systems by architecting and engineering trusted systems into secure environments. The role involves operating and maintaining the network security infrastructure to support mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee security infrastructure sustainment, maintenance, and advanced configuration of security tools (Palo Alto firewalls, F5 WAF, Illumio, Proofpoint mail gateways, IDS, AWS, and other security tools).

Required Experience:

1. 10+ years of IT experience.
2. Recent 2-3 years of demonstrated experience with Palo Alto firewall.
3. Recent 2 years of demonstrated experience with F5 WAF and/or Illumio Micro segmentation.
4. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, IP subnetting, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network management.

Nice to Have:

1. Prior healthcare payer industry experience.
2. Experience with AWS security tools.
3. Experience with Proofpoint Gateway (Email Security).
4. Experience with Splunk and Palo Alto SOAR.
