Technology, Engineering, & Design (TED)

NATURE OF WORK

Plans and provides for appropriate classroom learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Additionally, is responsible for maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures and practices as well as monitoring the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

POSITION: 10-month

SALARY: Salary to be determined by the DPI state policy schedule

Reports to: Principal

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Hold or be able to obtain a North Carolina Teachers License in the area 820 Technology
  • Must have experience operating 3D printers, laser engravers, desktop cnc, and vinyl cutter equipment. Knowledge of Adobe Suite is an advantage.
  • Possible courses taught Technology, Engineering and Design, Technological Design, and Computer Science.

  • To comply with school and school board policies and regulations
  • To work cooperatively with the total staff
  • To relate positively to parents and other community representatives
  • To be prompt and accurate with required records and reports
  • To accept responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to the school
  • To use instructional and planning time effectively
  • To assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities
  • To assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to the teacher's care
  • To perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Principal or designee

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, fax machines, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor classroom conditions and regularly works near a video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work is typically performed in a classroom setting. Daily contact is made with all classified employees, teachers, administrators, and students in person.
