Job summary

Journey Community Schools seeks a dedicated CTE teacher in Memphis, TN to deliver high-quality instruction in a small-school setting. You will support students to become self-directed learners and contribute to ongoing program improvement within our nationally recognized model.

You will develop aligned lesson plans, assess progress, and communicate with families while collaborating with peers and instructional coaches to continuously refine instructional practices.

Qualifications

• Licensure with authorization to teach Career and Technical Education (CTE).
• 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred.
• Knowledge of Tennessee State Standards and CTE Frameworks.
• Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles.
• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data.
• Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices.

Responsibilities

• Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief of Paving Pathways to Success for all scholars and teammates.
• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities aligned with Tennessee State Standards and JCS Instructional Guidelines.
• Assess students regularly and differentiate classroom instruction based on data and needs.
• Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in education.
• Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to address them and improve practices.
• Participate in professional development and work with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coaches.
