Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD is seeking a CTE Engineering, Design & Manufacturing/Machine Tool Teacher Assistant for Three Rivers. The role supports a Machine Tool Technology instructor, delivering hands-on instruction, maintaining a safe lab, and aiding with mobile Career Exploration trailer activities.

The position emphasizes classroom and shop oversight, equipment setup, and student support in machining, blueprint reading, and metallurgy, with travel within the county for outreach opportunities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; higher credential preferred
• Experience in machining, CNC, manufacturing, or related field
• Knowledge of machine shop equipment, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and shop safety
• Ability to work effectively with high school students
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in CTE or workforce development preferred
• Experience with mobile instructional labs or trailers preferred
• Must lift up to 50 pounds
• Maintain required trainings and certifications

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with classroom, laboratory, and shop instruction.
• Reinforce lessons in manual/CNC machining, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students.
• Support differentiated instruction and hands-on demonstrations at mobile trailer events.
• Help present engineering and manufacturing concepts to middle school students exploring CTE pathways.
• Monitor safety and proper tool use in lab/workshop settings.
• Assist with inventory and material preparation for daily instruction.
• Coordinate with staff on equipment setup, loading/unloading for mobile demonstrations.
• Represent the program during district-wide exploration events.
