Full-time, Evening Shift (3p-11:30p), Monday-Friday; no call, rotating holidays

Position Summary

This role supports Mercy’s patient-centered care philosophy by performing computed tomography procedures, including invasive CT procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and co-workers during hand-offs and as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Perform diagnostic x-ray and CT exams following established protocols, minimizing radiation exposure
  • Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for exams
  • Utilize RIS, PACS, Laborworkx, and other software effectively
  • Verify patient identity and review medical history and diagnosis for appropriateness
  • Review images for quality, technique, and positioning; repeat images as necessary
  • Establish intravenous access using sterile technique for contrast media injection
  • Support radiology education and supervise students as per policy
  • Train new employees and radiography students
  • Adhere to radiation safety regulations and safety guidelines, reporting unsafe conditions

  • Perform diagnostic x-ray and CT exams; review and repeat images as necessary
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Proficient with diagnostic x-ray and CT equipment
  • Experience with department information systems and PACS
Experience and Education
  • One year of CT experience preferred
  • Relevant education for licensure
Licenses and Certifications
  • ARRT (Radiology or CT) certification required
  • Iowa Department of Public Health State Permit required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Mandatory Reporter training in adult and child abuse required
