Job summary

AdventHealth Lake Mary seeks a CT Technologist to perform high-quality CT exams in accordance with physician orders and protocols. You will review patient history, prep IV contrast, and ensure patient safety while maintaining ALARA standards.

You will collaborate with radiologists and the care team, document in EMR/PACS, educate patients, and follow infection control protocols. A year of CT experience and ARRT CT certification are required or preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school grad or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree preferred; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • ARRT CT certification and active CPR.
  • 1+ year of CT radiography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT examinations per orders and protocols.
  • Review patient history to confirm exam appropriateness and IV contrast safety.
  • Position patients using immobilization devices while maintaining ALARA.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare staff to ensure imaging quality and continuity of care.
  • Document accurately in EMR and PACS; educate patients about the exam.
  • Follow infection control standards and use PPE appropriately.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and adapt protocols for all ages.

Job Description:

MONDAY - 7P - 7A - ADVENTHEALTH OVIDEO ER 8100 RED BUG LAKE ROAD OVIDEO, FL
  • Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.

  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained.

  • Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

  • Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.

  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents.

  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
  • Ability to learn and use Radiology software packages, scanners and workstations, and EMR [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet ED/Observation TAT goals [Required]
  • Ability to assess, start and confirm appropriate placement of IVs for use in contrast studies [Required]
  • The ability to assess, explain and perform imaging studies on patients of all ages [Required]
  • Ability to learn and complete Reconstructions/Post processing [Required]
