Job summary

AdventHealth, based in Florida, seeks a CT technologist to perform high-quality CT examinations following orders and protocols. You will work with radiologists and care teams to ensure accurate imaging, patient safety, and efficient workflow.

Training and ongoing education support are provided as part of a faith-based healing mission. The role requires familiarity with PACS, EMR systems, and radiation safety principles, with emphasis on ALARA and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with radiology software packages and CT imaging workflows.
• Maintains required registries and licenses for imaging procedures.
• Knows radiation safety concepts to minimize exposure.

Responsibilities

• Practices infection control and uses PPE per protocol.
• Performs high-quality CT exams per orders and protocols.
• Reviews patient history to confirm exam appropriateness and contraindications.
• Prepares IV contrast and monitors for adverse reactions.
• Operates imaging equipment safely and ensures ALARA.
• Maintains clean exam rooms and stocking, and documents QC checks.
• Communicates with radiologists to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of care.

Job Description

Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to learn and use Radiology software packages such as Fuji/Agfa PACS application, CT scanners and workstations Siemens SyngoVia, EMR such as Cerner/Epic.


• Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.


• Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures.


• Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff.


• Ability to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet ED/Observation TAT goals.


• Ability to assess, start and confirm appropriate placement of IV’s for use in CT studies.


• The ability to assess, explain and perform CT and XR studies on patients of all ages.


• Ability to learn and complete CTA Reconstructions. Specifically, Cardiac CTA.


• Past CTA Reconstruction skills [Preferred]

Education

High School Grad or equivalent [Required]

Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience

3+ years radiology experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Computed Tomography (ARRT‑CT) [Required]


• Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)ARRT)) [Required]
