Job summary

Akumin Operating Corp. is seeking a Radiologic (X‑Ray) Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic exams and produce high‑quality images while complying with HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include operating X‑ray equipment, interfacing with radiologists, and maintaining image quality across multiple sites. ARRT certification and state licensure are required where applicable; CPR/BLS and ACLS as needed; travel to locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • ARRT (R) certification and state license required, if applicable.
  • CPR/BLS certification per American Heart Association or ARC; ACLS where applicable.
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations and provide per‑diem coverage.
  • Strong customer service, organization, multitasking and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Local travel may be required.

  • Support mobile unit coverage and safety in magnetic fields and exposure to fluids.
  • Produce high‑quality X‑ray images with radiation safety and proper documentation.
  • Triage and pre‑screen for contraindications and aseptic technique.
  • Troubleshoot X‑ray unit and peripheral equipment.

Radiologic (X‑Ray) Technologist

As a Radiologic (X‑Ray) Technologist, you are required to produce diagnostic radiographic images for medical interpretation through administration of ionizing radiation. The technologist will independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in completing diagnostic exams, preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to contrast administration and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. The position is accountable for performing the correct radiographic exams, producing high‑quality diagnostic images, and maintaining proficiency while complying with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician, exercising individual judgment and discretion in accordance with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions.
  • Demonstrate competency on differing X‑ray equipment, communicate effectively with patients and radiologists, and maintain image quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations through process improvement and a team‑oriented approach.
  • Use all communication channels to address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflict while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Operate EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
  • Train and orient new technologists and patient coordinators as needed, and complete annual and ongoing education and site‑specific competencies or in‑services as designated by leadership.
  • Support other duties as assigned by leadership, including mobile unit coverage and ensuring safety in strong magnetic fields and exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Produce high‑quality diagnostic digital X‑ray images with attention to radiation safety regulations, proper documentation, and technique when working with patients and radioactive materials.
  • Ensure patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique.
  • Troubleshoot the X‑ray unit and all peripheral equipment, including computers, PACS, and related devices.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • ARRT (R) certification and state license, if applicable.
  • CPR Certification, BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC); ACLS certification where applicable.
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
  • Ability to work at several locations and provide coverage as a per‑diem technologist.
  • Strong customer service skills, organizational, multi‑tasking, and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required.
Preferred Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • 1 year of X‑ray experience.
Physical Requirements

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit, strong magnetic fields, and blood/body fluids and infectious disease. More than 50% of the time, sit, stand, walk, repeat movements of hands, arms, and legs, and see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients. Less than 50% of the time, stoop, kneel or crawl, climb and balance, and carry and lift non‑ambulatory patients.
