Atrium Health Steele Creek Emergency Department, a facility of Atrium Health Pineville, provides 24-hour emergency services to the Steele Creek area. From broken bones to heart attacks, we offer high-level emergency care. Our staff includes board-certified emergency physicians, supported by Carolinas Medical Center, the region’s only Level I Trauma Center.

Job Summary

The CT Technologist I performs procedures following departmental protocols, operating CT scanners and related equipment proficiently. Equipment includes scanners, post-processing stations, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction devices, patient transport, and monitoring equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Review requests and verify orders; consult radiologists for discrepancies.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers; explain procedures briefly and prepare patients accordingly.
  • Obtain complete medical histories, review EMRs, and document clinical information.
  • Manage the exam from start to finish, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Administer IV contrast per protocols, recording details as requested.
  • Evaluate image quality, consult radiologists, and process additional images if needed.
  • Perform basic patient care, monitor patient status, and assist in emergencies, including "code blue" procedures.
  • Assist during invasive procedures, maintaining sterile technique and infection control.
  • Obtain medications or contrast as directed by licensed practitioners.
  • Follow radiation safety standards to protect staff and patients.
  • Report equipment issues and maintain safety protocols.
  • Work safely around bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
  • Follow fire and safety procedures, attend safety training, and perform tasks accurately during crises.
  • Operate radiology computer systems, document procedures, and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist other medical personnel as needed, e.g., anesthesia during exams.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy lifting, standing, walking, and bending are required. Exposure to various physical conditions and adherence to radiation safety guidelines are essential.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine, with advanced registry in CT within one year of hire, and current CPR certification are required.
