Shift Details: Saturday-Sunday 06:45a-7:15p

Job Summary

The CT Technologist I performs procedures according to departmental protocols, operating CT scanners and related equipment proficiently. Equipment includes scanners, post-processing stations, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction devices, patient transport, and monitoring equipment.

Essential Functions

1. Verify patient requests and orders; consult Radiologist if needed. Contact providers for discrepancies.
2. Identify patients using two identifiers; explain procedures briefly and prepare patients, documenting details appropriately.
3. Gather complete medical histories from EMRs and patient interviews; review test results and laboratory data.
4. Manage the exam process from start to finish, ensuring quality and accuracy.
5. Administer IV contrast per protocols, documenting type and amount upon request.
6. Assess image quality, consult Radiologist for abnormalities, and process additional images or measurements as instructed.
7. Perform basic patient care, monitor patient condition, and assist in emergencies, including "code blue" procedures.
8. Assist during invasive procedures, maintaining sterile technique and infection control standards.
9. Obtain medications or contrast materials as directed by licensed practitioners.
10. Follow radiation safety standards to protect self, patients, and staff.
11. Report equipment malfunctions and ensure safety protocols are followed.
12. Maintain safety awareness regarding bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
13. Adhere to fire and safety procedures, attend safety training, and complete required modules.
14. Work accurately and efficiently during crises, rotating shifts including holidays and weekends, and adhering to attendance policies.
15. Use radiology computer systems for orders, charges, and documentation of contrast administration.
16. Keep work areas clean, stocked, and organized.
17. Assist other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, during exams or procedures.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy lifting, moving patients and equipment, with frequent standing, walking, and bending. Exposure to physical conditions like climbing stairs and working near moving equipment. Use radiation safety practices diligently.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate from an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine, with an advanced registry in CT within one year of hire, plus current CPR certification.
