Job Description

Job Summary: The CT Technologist TL utilizes Computed Tomography (CT) scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols.
  • Positions patients appropriately using immobilization and protective equipment as needed, as directed by the provider.
  • Organizes and performs steps in established procedures, reviews, manipulates, and evaluates images to deliver high-quality diagnostic images, including post-processing at remote workstations.
  • Starts up and calibrates CT systems daily.
  • Reviews orders with Radiologist to determine proper protocol.
  • Administers IV contrast with proper dosage and documents per department policy.
  • Performs and documents quality control on equipment, recognizes abnormal results, reports issues, and takes appropriate action.
  • Ensures a safe, clean environment with necessary supplies for procedures.
  • Follows radiation safety principles (ALARA) to ensure safety.
  • Works with minimal supervision, makes independent decisions, and maintains professionalism.
  • Uses PACS, EMR, and related software effectively.
  • Shares departmental workload equitably.
  • Works in variable environments and locations.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource for onboarding staff and students.
  • Provides orientation and training for new hires, ensuring procedures meet standards.
  • Solves complex problems independently, may lead projects, and acts as a resource for colleagues.
  • Provides ongoing support, training, and leadership within the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, with or without accommodations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a JCERT-approved Radiologic Sciences Program.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Registered by ARRT in CT or eligible to take the registry, with registration within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified by the Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by AHA or ARC, required by first day of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ARRT in Radiology (R) or NMTCB Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Sciences.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience.
