Job summary

Bon Secours in Richmond is seeking a CT Technologist for St. Mary’s Hospital to perform CT scans and provide direct patient care. You will work with radiologists, maintain image quality and CT IT systems, and participate in on-call rotations.

Required are BLS and ARRT Diagnostic Radiology certification; CT modality registration is preferred or must be obtained within two years. This PRN role is based on Days/Evenings at St. Mary’s.

• Certification and Registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology required.
• Advanced CT modality registration preferred or must obtain within two years.

Responsibilities

• Ensures image quality and verifies patient data.
• Performs CT procedures.
• Performs timeout as required by policy.
• Positions and immobilizes patients for CT scans.
• Generates radiation exposures per physician request.
• Assists radiologist with biopsies and drainage using sterile techniques.
• Maintains CT IT systems including Radiant and PACS.

CT Technologist - St. Mary’s Hospital - PRN - Days - Evenings

Job Summary:

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.

Essential Functions:

• Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
• Performs computed tomography procedures.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.
• Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
• Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
• Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
• Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
• Participates in on call rotation as required.

Education:

• Associate’s from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Required Licensing & Certifications:

• BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
• Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within two years)
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

Experience:

• 1 year of experience as CT or Rad Tech (preferred)
