Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Richmond, VA seeks a CT Technologist for St. Mary's Hospital on a PRN basis, days and evenings. You will perform CT scanning with careful attention to patient care and image quality, under radiologist supervision.

Responsibilities include obtaining diagnostic images, preparing contrast, maintaining equipment and IT systems (PACS/Radiant), and participating in on-call rotations. ARRT certification and BLS are required or preferred at hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred)
• BLS Basic Life Support (required at hire for Roper St Francis locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
• ARRT Diagnostic Radiology certification/registration (required)
• Advanced modality registration in CT (preferred, or must obtain within two years)
• State licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
• 1 year of CT/Rad Tech experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Ensure the quality of all images and verify patient/procedural data
• Perform computed tomography procedures
• Perform timeout as required per policy
• Position patients on CT scanning cradles and immobilize as needed
• Make radiation exposures per physician request and patient history
• Administer intravenous contrast agents; manage IVs and other contrast materials
• Assist radiologist with biopsies and drainage procedures
• Maintain knowledge of CT IT systems including Radiant and PACS
• Participate in on-call rotations

Job Summary

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.

Essential Functions

• Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
• Performs computed tomography procedures.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.
• Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
• Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
• Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
• Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
• Participates in on call rotation as required.

Education

• Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Required Licensing & Certifications

• BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
• Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within two years)
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

Experience

• Minimum: $33.31
• Maximum: $51.63
