Position Summary

The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist performs scans, prepares patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician. Minimum of two years of acute hospital experience required. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director, the CT Technologist will perform all aspects of various CT procedures according to the standards established by the department’s Medical Director. Shifts are rotated as assigned. The role requires good interpersonal and communication skills, utilizing both verbal and non-verbal methods.

Essential Job Functions and Core Responsibilities

• Adhere to patient safety policies and report safety issues.
• Attend assigned in-service classes and comply with departmental and hospital policies.
• Support team unity and maintain positive working relationships.
• Document examination history, unusual conditions, and record examination details accurately in PACS.
• Use information systems for duties and billing; assist with patient transfers.
• Maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections of equipment and report unsafe conditions.
• Assess pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients to ensure proper positioning, technique, and use of protective devices; provide educational support to families as needed.
• Ensure high-quality imaging with correct exposure and positioning.
• Demonstrate knowledge of radiological techniques and safe operation of equipment.
• Review radiology requisitions, verify orders, check patient history, and explain procedures to patients to enhance satisfaction.
• Rotate shifts and work areas as scheduled, including overtime when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Work Experience

• Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program.
• At least two years of acute hospital experience preferred; no experience required for radiology interns at Methodist Hospital.

Licenses and Certifications

• ARRT Registration
• Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist license
• California Fluoroscopy Permit
• CT ARRT certification
• Venipuncture certification
• Maintain BLS certification
