Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama's regional health system seeks a CT technologist to perform computed tomography procedures under the direction of a radiologist and CT supervisor. The role requires ARRT(R) or NMTCB CT designation within one year and BLS certification within 30 days.

Full-time positions offer a schedule of 7 a.m.–7 p.m. or 7 p.m.–7 a.m., with opportunities in a high-volume ED expansion and access to comprehensive education benefits and PSLF eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by ARRT.
• One year experience in general radiography preferred.
• Currently registered as an RT(R) with ARRT or NMTCB-certified; CT designation within 1 year from hire.
• BLS certification from AHA required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Pay range: $32.25 - $52.40 / hour

Shifts: full-time and AM and PM, weekends AM and PM

Schedules: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m.

Job Highlights

We are expanding our Emergency Department (ED) at UAB Hospital, Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, and we’re hiring additional team members. As one of the largest emergency departments in the country, this expansion will include 115+ treatment and triage spaces, more than doubling our capacity as well as a 30-bed inpatient observation unit. The new space was designed with staff input and will have new equipment and features, including dedicated technology like CT scanners, X-ray machines, and echo ultrasound, along with a ceiling lift for bariatric patients, enhanced security, and a streamlined teleadmission process.

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to render prescribed CT procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. One (1) year experience in general radiography preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (R) with ARRT or currently certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Candidate will have one (1) year from hire date to become registered in Computed Tomography (CT) from ARRT or obtain CT designation from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
