The CT technologist provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.
Essential Functions
- Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor conducive to quality care.
- Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations for each modality.
- Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Assess the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
- Provide instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Perform proper patient identification, acquire clinical history, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Position patient, equipment, and manipulate technical factors for high-quality images.
- Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification.
- Apply radiation safety principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Participate in Quality Control standards and tasks.
- Proficiently administer contrast medication with and without power injectors.
- Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for contrast administration as prescribed.
- Administer medical aid in case of adverse reactions or emergencies.
- Use standard precautions and PPE to prevent cross-contamination.
- Supervise student technologists and train new technologists.
- Utilize all radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensure safety of all customers.
- Maintain punctual attendance per policies and regulations.
- Follow all policies, guidelines, and education requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.
- Provide patient transport as needed.
Education/Training
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure/Certification
- Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist license by the State of Florida.
- Valid ARRT certification or NMTCB in CT.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
